History, Sustainability and Friendship

The story behind Prever is as unique as the wines themselves. Grab a glass of Beneficio di Michele or Nebbie Autunnali, and you can taste the history, sense the friendship and take comfort in the organic practices which weave this distinctive story together.

The vineyard itself is situated on the grounds of a historic hunting lodge which dates back to the 1600’s, when this location was owned by the D’Angennes royal family. However, this territory has even deeper historic roots as the vines can be traced back to Roman times when they were the cradle of the famous Nebbiolo grape in the Middle Ages. The first document to report its presence is in fact dated 1266.

Fast forward to the 2000s and the second generation of Prever-Chiarle heirs took on the challenge. Giulia was joined by her friend Valentina, and the two women who had strong ideas and lots of passion would revolutionize the company. They enhanced the ancient grapes through modern oenological methods and in 2011 built a new cellar, entirely powered by solar energy.

With a clear focus on sustainability, they manually harvest the grapes, use shoots as organic fertilizers and reuse water supplies to reduce their impact on the environment. Prever wines are an excellent combination of sophistication, sustainability and enjoyment. They have won a number of awards and their unique aromas are guaranteed to delight the experienced sommelier as well as the everyday wine enthusiast.
